"Dear Editor, We have three birds: two cockatiels and one conure. They are part of the parrot family. They are extremely intelligent, gregarious, and make incredible pets. They have free run of our house, and they are truly members of our home. Last week we were having some furniture moved and while a door was opened, the conure was startled. He flew through the door and was gone. It was a devastating loss. In that year, we had lost Nymphe, our female cockatiel, from laying too many eggs, and Marisol, our cat, probably to coyotes after she sneaked out of the house one night."
