""Gawd, I hate cats. They shed all over everything and their shit reeks to high heaven."
The shit of healthy cats DOES NOT reek to high heaven. Reeking kitty poop is a sign something is wrong with them, most likely intestinal parasites. Normal kitty poop is nearly as odorless as cockatiel droppings. And as an added advantage, they don't drop them all over the house, but neatly in a litter box, and they even cover them over when they're done.
Cats fed on high-quality food with the proper nutrition DO NOT shed all over the place."
Gift-giving and travel tips can offer pets and owners a less stressful holiday
From: NewsTrove.com
"Advocate photo by Tracy Simoneaux
A chinchilla, or Andes-Mountains-native rodent, will survive alone during the holidays with just a clean cage, extra food and water. However, before leaving for a holiday vacation, chinchilla owners should turn off all heaters as a precaution. The animals cannot survive temperatures higher than 79 or 80 degrees Fahrenheit and prefer colder weather.
Locally owned Noah's Quality Pets and Supplies manager Matt Parsons thinks a pet is a great holiday gift. He is a businessman and said he would love a chance to sell more area residents a holiday pet or pet-related gifts."

Molting or Stressing???
From: www.livejournal.com
"So, yesterday, I walked into the room where my lady-birds live, and what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a cage full of feathers, and a bird who seems to be preening constantly. One of my girls, I think, is going through a molt. She isn't pulling herself naked, but there is plenty of feathers to go around on the bottom of the cage. Is it the time of year for a molt???
I wouldn't be overly concerned with it, except for the fact that my partner and I are moving. Over the past few days, the house has gone from full of our stuff, to none of our stuff, and I know my girls have noticed the changes.
What's the best way to handle the molting, coupled with a move? I have a little pet carrier that I plan to line with a sheet, with a little perch and some food for the 1 1/2 hour drive to our new home, so that should be safe and warm enough for the girls. I'm just concerned with their psychological well-being. Am I running the risk of stressing them out too much???
Thanks for any and all suggestions.

"hiieee!!
i've posted a couple'a times with different questions and i'd mentioned that i'd be getting a baby bird, as our birds at work just laid eggs and they've hatched and all..
wellllll yesterday, two more birds were brought in to be given up for adoption. and lemme tell ya, they're GORGEOUS!!!
infact, i may end up keeping one or two of these, perhaps rather than taking a baby!!
these perdy birds are named cocoa (but i'm calling her fancy) and fefe. check out the pics! so pretttty!

yayyyyyy!!! oh yeah. umm, fancy's the gray, and fefe's the white one. they're both pretty stuck up. fefe's bark is worse than her bite (she'll look like she's gonna peck your finger off, but she steps up REAL nice).. but fancy, on the other hand, is real nice.. but doesn't seem to cooperate with the stepping up. it's especially hard to get her off of my shoulder.
fancy loves to be scratched and rubbed and will fall asleep cuddled in your hands... but fefe will eat you if you touch her, even if yer holdin' her.
they've come a long way in the past two days and are warming up to us nicely.
oh, the excitement!!"
