"Once upon a time there were people who believed evergreen trees to be magical. In winter, when other trees were brown and bare, the evergreen stood strong and lush with greenery, a symbol of life and the promise of the return of spring.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all, and may the magic of the Mailbag continue to help and touch so many lives in 2005!

The idea of a kitten or puppy with a gift bow on its collar may be very heartwarming, and a cockatiel in an antique cage may look very beautiful on a gift table, but in the long run, giving an animal as a gift can be a bad idea."

"But her 79-year-old husband of 16 years interjected they cut a rug well "enough to have a good time."
The Holubs' dancing days are behind them: medical problems have left the couple mostly confined to their trailer home in Milton. When she's not in bed, Patricia Holub gets around with a walker. Raymond Holub, slowed by recent heart trouble, spends much of his time sitting in a nearby chair.
A small television that flickers in the living room has become a window to the world."

Cockatiel Blogs from LiveJournal
hello.
From: www.livejournal.com
"Hi everyone, I'm new to this community. But I'm glad there are a few million communities out there for cockatiels, but I especially liked this one because it introduced as "a community for people owned by cockatiels." and that's the truth. I figure they're worse than cats, we're their slaves.. And if your bird, like mine, has the run of the house all day, then ontop of slavery, their little world is also their commode.
Anyways, little bit about myself.. My family and I have had a cockatiel hen named Sam, roughly since August of 2000. I picked her out from all of the others, because I was too blind to see that all of those times she had let me pick her up at the store, all of those times she actually came over to me.. Was all a rotten dirty scheme to get out of "the big house" and into, literarly, the lap of luxury. She has a beautiful cage, gets treats at least once a day (and if she devours the evidence quickly, another unsuspecting person of our household will hand her another.) and she eats exact diet, but won't eat the green pieces, only the red and yellow ones (mostly the red.) She's a part of our family.. And has permanently bonded with my Mom. Mom sneezes, she tweets.. Mom leaves her sight, she screams. Mom's garage door opens (and she can tell the difference between the two.) she screams bloody murder.. Now when my Dad and I try to pick her up, she lunges, bites, claws and carries on.. Well, most of the time at least. But she's become a part of our family and when I move out in January, unfortunately (cry.. cry..) I can't take her with me, but I'll get my own, but instead of a PMS-y, mean-spirited ol' hag of a girl.. I'll get a boy. (and if you need photographic proof, look at the icon.)
Well there's her life's story for you. Nice meeting you all."
Hello
From: www.livejournal.com
"Hi, I joined this community a little while ago, but i never got a chance to introduce myself and my birdie. My name's Khrys, i have nine birds; 8 budgies and a 'tiel.

His name is Domingo and he's just over a year old; These pics aren't the greatest but when i get new ones i'll post. He loves my dad; i swear he thinks my dads a bird. He gets so protective of him. It's adorable. He plays with my dads hair and gives him little kisses and immitates him. Whenever he eats he'll start singing, and putting on a little 'show' for my dad to watch. Sometimes he likes to act tough (like when he doesnt want to leave my dad or go in the cage) but he's really just a big fluffy baby. He's my first 'tiel so im still learning plenty, but i wouldnt trade him for anything:)"
Unsafe cage?
From: www.livejournal.com
"I just got a new cage for Christmas for Trevor. I'm a little concerned about it now that I actually see it in person. I think the bar spacing and the gaps might be too big for him.
It's a 20x20x29", and it has 5/8" bar spacing. But there are larger gaps around the edges of the playtop when it's closed, and on the side of the food dish doors.
Does anybody else have this cage? Do you guys think it's safe for my bird? I really hope I'm just being paranoid because it would cost a lot of shipping to return it.
