"Dave's Seed Stick Recipe

Seed sticks that I make from pancake batter.
When I make pancakes dilute the leftover batter.
Mix in ground up sterilized eggshells
Add pellets (cockatiel pellets)
Then add mixed seed (about twice as much seed as batter),
I wipe the pan with a little olive oil and cook like a large pancake over low heat until it is set enough to handle.
Cut it into strips while it's still warm .
Bake the sticks on a cookie sheet in a in 200 F. oven until it has the consistency of a honey stick.
I store them in an airtight container."

7 parts canary seed
2 parts rape seed
1/2 parts oat groats
1/2 part flax
Mix and store in containers."

"Hi everyone! I just joined this community so I thought I'd post a little introduction...my name is Danielle, and my Tiel's name is Tweety [how original, I know] =). We live in New Jersey. Tweety just turned 6 years old on November 17...I got her when she was very young, the earliest age you are allowed to buy them after they're born [I'm not sure what the age is, 6 weeks maybe?] Anyway, I feel like I just got her...time sure does fly. Her coloring is very unique from what I've been told. When I bought her there was only one other bird with similar coloring and I haven't seen any in the store since then. I think the color is called Cinnamon Yellow-Cheek. Here are some pictures:

A Parrot and the Turkey
A young man named John received a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary. Every word out of the bird s mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity.
John tried and tried to change the bird s attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could think of to clean up the bird s vocabulary. Finally, John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back. John shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even ruder. John, in desperation, threw up his hands, grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer. (If you have ever owned a parrot then you could understand John s frustration)
For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed. Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute. Fearing that he d hurt the parrot, John quickly opened the door to the freezer.
The parrot calmly stepped out onto John s outstretched arm and said I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I am sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior.
John was stunned at the change in the bird s attitude. As he was about to ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, the bird continued, May I ask what the turkey did?
Please note that I do NOT condone placing your bird in the freezer... this post is simply meant to be humorous!! I think most bird owners understand the frustration of squawking birds... but that's part of the reason we love them!! :) "
