Pet Insurance Primer
From: NewsTrove.com

"I’m glad Matty is on the mend. As a pet owner myself, I understand how you feel about her. Pet ownership is on the increase. 58 million American households include a dog, cat, bird, or other companion animal. For most people, a beloved pet is truly a member of the family and we would spare no expense to ensure our pet is healthy and happy. (Yes, happy. Today we even have anti-depressants for pets!) According to the American Pet Products Manufacturing Association, we spend an estimated $30 billion — that’s billion — on our pets each year. This includes veterinary care, grooming, boarding, toys, beds, etc."

Stop throwing stuff in your water!
From: www.livejournal.com

"A couple months ago, my younger bird, Merlin, started dumping stuff in the water dish. He'll chew off a piece of the lining paper and dump it in there, or maybe a couple of seeds or feathers that have dropped to the cage bottom. I change their water every day, so it was tolerable.

However, now my older bird Cinders seems to have picked up on this habit from him. I wash out their water dish in the morning, and literally five minutes later it is dirty again! This is driving me nuts! I don't want my birdies drinking dirty water =(

Any suggestions?"

Stop throwing stuff in your water!
From: www.livejournal.com

"Lately, Syuri has been drinking huge gulps of water and for a few minutes afterwards, she will occasionally sneeze. The sneezes are very wet and nasally sounding as if she got water in her nose - eventually the noise goes away and the moisture in her sneezes stops.

Has anyone else had this problem, or knows of ways to prevent this? I don't know if she's actually hurting herself or just being a goofball and drinking too fast? I'm such a worried bird-parent."

"my teils started some new odd habits.

1) he hangs in the middle of his cage upside down with his wings spread and his tail feathers wide and chirps until I acknowledge him then he climbs right over to the side of his cage and does it over and over again.

2) its been 2 weeks now since he got his new cage and he sleeps still on top of his water and food, as a result, well you can imagine in the morning what I wake up too

I remember reading somehting in my well behaved parrot guide but cant find it right now..

ideas?"
